2 Aides To Former Lexington Mayor Indicted

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Two aides of former Lexington Mayor Teresa Isaac have been indicted by a grand jury on felony theft charges for alleged incidents during her administration.

According to documents filed in Fayette Circuit Court, Becky Estep and Debbie Jones have been charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking of more than $300, a Class D felony.

The court documents filed Monday allege that between 2005 and 2006 Estep used money belonging to the Lexington Festival Committee to buy clothes, popcorn and lunches worth more than $300.

The documents say Jones took money from the same committee and used it to buy "a trip to Gatlinburg, popcorn, gift cards and lunches valuing over $300."

The women are scheduled to appear in Fayette Circuit Court on April 4.
