Police Cut Patrols Due To High Gas Prices

Kentucky State Police will be limiting patrols because of high gasoline prices.

Lieutenant Phil Crumpton confirms that all posts are now asked to scale back fuel use by at least 10 percent.

Crumpton says state police have as many as a thousand cars on the road everyday. He says no services or call responses will be cut.

Troopers are being urged to park and observe locations, keep vehicles in good running order, carpool to meetings and observe the speed limit.

How about not allowing them to use the cruisers (and tax funded gas) while off duty? I don't get to drive my company vehicles for personal use...

They should have to observe the speed limit ALL the time unless they are in route to a call. They should care about everyone else around them enough to SLOW down.

When you go over 70 you can watch the fuel gauge drop by eveyr 10 miles in most cars. they should lowjack cops to keep them from speeding when not nessasary and fine them the same as anyone else when they speed illegally. Also when they go home pick up there blonde headed wife and kid and drive them back to town for shopping they shold be fired and imprisoned for theft of public property same as anyone else that would use city or state property for self gain.

Yes I agree same as Joey they should have to obey the speed limit the same as I do. I have seen troopers several times on the interstate running well over the speed limit just because they can who is going to pull them over???

they do have them ... they are called speedometers. now if they would only use them.just today i was coming to work, car on cruise at 55mph and a state patrol car passed me likei was sitting still in the highway. why do they do that ? is it because they are police officers and are above the law ?

Being "urged" to obey the speed limits???? Why do they have to be urged? It should be mandatory and they all should have monitors to tell how fast they are going.
