Lexington Bank Robber Linked to Several Others

It took police less than a half an hour to find and arrest the man who they say robbed a Lexington bank Thursday morning and after they arrested the man they linked him to three other bank robberies dating back to last summer.

The call came in around 11 that someone had robbed the Fifth Third Bank on Nicholasville Road. There was no weapon shown. The suspect gave the teller a note.

Police say the bank complied with his demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of money and he then fled on foot.

A passerby noticed a man jump into a car and speed off from the bank and called police with a vehicle description.

An off-duty officer spotted the car and called for a traffic stop at Alexandria Drive and Old Frankfort Pike. The driver of that car was David T. Cox.

Besides today's robbery, Cox is charged with robbing the same bank on Nicholasville Road last November and the Fifth Third Bank on Leestown Road twice last year, once on July 27th and again August 22nd.

Police say they did recover some of the money from today's robbery in Cox's car. Cox was alone in the car when he was stopped.

In all it only took 26 minutes from the time of the robbery to the arrest.
