Warren Youth Drowns Attempting River Crossing

BOWLING GREEN, KY -- A Warren County youth drowned overnight reportedly while trying to cross a river to sneak into a popular racing park.

A Warren County Sheriff's Department news release says deputies responded to a report Saturday night of a "possible drowning" just off the 1100 block of Plum Springs Road. Reportedly, 15-year old Jessie Sean Ingram and two friends were attempting to cross the Barren River.

Investigators say the three were trying to "sneak into the back of the Harley Drags Racing Park at Beech Bend" when Ingram apparently slipped, went under and did not resurface.

Ingram's body was recovered by a rescue squad about 4:48 a.m. Sunday about 50 yards downstream from where he went under.

Several agencies assisted the Sheriff's Office in the attempted rescue turned recovery effort including Fish & Wildlife, Warren County Emergency Management, Kentucky State Police, Allen County Rescue Squad, Warren County Fire Departments and MedComm.
