Atheist Father Files Suit To Block Son's "St. X" Attendance

LOUISVILLE, KY -- As a practicing Catholic whose eighth-grade son, Michael, has always attended parochial schools, Susan Bisig says it would be best for him to attend St. Xavier High School, reports the Louisville Courier-Journal in its Sunday edition,.

The 144-year-old Catholic secondary school also happens to be Michael's first choice.

But Bisig's ex-husband, David Ryan, an atheist who has joint custody of their 14-year-old son, wants Michael to attend a nonreligious high school, reports the C-J.

And he says the Kentucky Constitution is on his side because it says no one shall be "compelled to send his child to any school to which he may be conscientiously opposed."

The battle between Ryan and Bisig, both commercial pilots, reports the Courier-Journal, has landed in Oldham County Family Court, where Judge Tim Feeley has said he will decide within the next couple of weeks where 14-year-old Michael Ryan will attend high school next year.

Feeley told the Louisville Courier-Journal whichever parent wins will pay Michael's tuition.

If a Christianist was told by an "Activist judge" that his child would be forced to attend an atheist school, Bushie would hold a special session of congress to appease his nutjob christo-fascist base; but an atheist is denied the decision to raise his child as he sees fit.... Of course, you can't argue with those who believe in gods, because they live in their own fairytale land.

To Bart; Easter is the day we celebrate and rejoice in the resurrection of our Lord. If you don't like it or believe it, that is your choice. And real Christians do celebrate this wonderful day. Obviously you don't have a clue as to what it means to be a true Christian. Until you truly understand the true meaning of this day, you don't have the right to make this judgment against Christians.

Why of course I do not celebrate pagan christmas. Christmas is nothing more than an old druid festival that involved the worship of trees and odin (you call him santa claus). No REAL Christian would ever celebrate christmas or allow their children to do so. The Bible says that those who celebrate christmas are heathens! Read Jeremiah 10:2-4. You won't like it! Sorry, but hiding eggs in the yard and crediting some omnipotent giant rabbit named peter cottontail is not a celebration of the resurrection of christ!

Looking at the father's actions, I'm guessing he didn't understand what the term "joint custody" means. It doesn't means he gets to smoke one when he has custody of the kid. Sheesh mister, do I have to explain it to you?

Very well done, Truth. I'm pleased to hear a true Christian's words. Those who wish ill of other's should look inward first, for they are the ones lost.

True Christians wouldn't get on here, call people names and act in the hateful way some of you are. God bless each one of you and I hope you search your hearts for more concern and love for others. Including the dad of this boy. He needs our prayers clearly he is lost.

Methinks Mr. Ryan wants his "15 minutes of fame" and nothing else..well maybe get out of paying tuition...maybe he thinks a news network will pick up his "plight" and he can eventually make it onto Oprah or The view...when they have the pregnant man on their shows, they will stop at nothing else...LOL!

To Bart in Harrodsburg: You said,"As for you "Proud Christian," easter is a pagan holiday in which old druid fertility rites are observed. It has nothing to do with Christ being resurrected and REAL Christians do no celebrate it! " I don't know what religion/denomination you are or confess to be, but Christians do celebrate Easter as the resurrection of Jesus Christ. No, it's not the actual day Jesus was resurrected, but then again, December 25th wasn't the actual day Jesus was born either, but do you celebrate Christmas as a reminder of the birth of our Savior? Which ever parent has the "physical" custody of this child, should be able to sit down with him, and TOGETHER, they should decide which school is best for him. If the father is doing this for his "15 minutes of fame" and boasting his aethism, then he will reap what he sows. At 14 yrs. old, the Judge will want to hear this childs opinion, and it should be that way.

I think Mr.Ryan is making a big mistake. Michael is old enough to decide where he wants to go to school.pushing his beliefs on his son is not a good thing,it could push his son away from him.I wonder if he thought about that.

The word, Teacher, is "pederast" not "pedarast." A pederast is a man who is sexually attracted to little boys. Romans 1:22 applies to you! "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." In short, shut your mouth and open your ears and you might learn something! As for you "Proud Christian," easter is a pagan holiday in which old druid fertility rites are observed. It has nothing to do with Christ being resurrected and REAL Christians do no celebrate it! Finally, LexChick. Your worship of those litle idols and all that other non-Biblical junk will end you up in hell. You can get disgusted all you want to while you are weeping and wailing and it won't do you any good! Bravo to this dad, regardless of what his reasons are, for wanting to keep his son away from this garbage!
