Campus Alert Issued At EKU

In a campus-wide email today, Eastern Kentucky University's president and police chief issued a campus-wide safety alert.

Last Thursday, a minor says a man offered him money, cigarettes, and drugs if the minor would talk to him for half an hour near Todd and Dupree Halls on campus. The child said "no" and left.

Police say their suspect is a white man, around 40-years-old and 5 '8" tall. The man has a tall slender build, blonde hair, and possibly a northeastern accent. He is also described as having a disheveled appearance and was wearing blue jeans, old white shoes and a wind breaker jacket. The suspect was also carrying a satchel type book bag.

Campus police searched for the man, but did not find anyone matching his description.

Students are advised to report suspicious subjects loitering around campus, stay alert, travel in groups, and lock all doors and windows.
