We're following a developing story in Nicholas County where police have arrested a woman who told police she was shot in a home invasion.

27 NEWSFIRST has confirmed state police arrested 60-year-old Mary Willoughby this morning on a charge of falsely reporting an incident and facilitation to commit arson.

Back in February she told police two men broke into her home, shot her, and then set her house in fire.

At the time she claimed she woke up and managed to crawl out of the burning home just in time.

Neighbors and friends are in shock and cannot believe Willoughby would have made such an ordeal up.

wait a minute...the accused did exist. just so happens one of the two was incarcerated in montgomery co during the time in question. that is where she screwed up her story. its all in the carlisle newspaper, everyone should check it out. she also wrote a letter to the editor stating that she denies any wrongdoing. either way she is in trouble, whether it be for the crime she is accused of or falsifying a statement to the authorities for the statement she gave to the police when she admitted to doing it.

If she is such a good woman, why did she fabricate this story? She caused a small town to spend valuable man hours searching for someone who didn't exist. This costs a lot of money that the town just doesn't have. I say prosecute the lowlife to the fullest extent of the law. I hate liar's as much as theives.

she admits everything in the statement she gave when the warrant was served. sounds like she is guilty to me.

POOR POOR MARY. SHE NEEDS HELP. BUT MOST OF ALL I HOPE IF SHE DID THIS SHE GETS WHAT IS COMING TO HER. IT SAD WHEN PEOPLE DO THINGS LIKE THIS FOR ATTENTION. MAYBE SHE NEEDS THE NEWS TO ASK FOR A INTERVIEW TO TELL WHY SHE DID THIS. INSURANCE?

It is very sad that something like this has happened in our small community. I do not condone what she has accused of, but I do wish that people who come on her to make comments about a person, their family, and their actions would have the decency to submit their real name. Own up to your comments, don't try to hide behind a guise!
