Jury To Consider Sentence For Tenn. Man Convicted In Ky. Killing

CLINTON, Ky. (AP) - A jury is in the sentencing phase of the trial of a Tennessee man convicted of raping and killing a western Kentucky teenager.

The jury convicted 31-year-old Quincy Omar Cross on Tuesday of kidnapping, raping and murdering 18-year-old Jessica Currin. Her burned body was found behind a school in 2000.

Currin's mother, Jean Currin, testified on Wednesday that Currin was a mother who cared deeply for her infant son, Zion. The boy was just a few months old when she died.

Cross was one of five people charged last year in connection with Currin's death. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
