Mother To Face Shelby Charges In Infant's Death

LEXINGTON, KY -- A Lexington woman arrested in the death of a newborn baby will be transported to Shelby County to face charges. according to the Kentucky State Police.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports in its Sunday edition that Kentucky State Police told them 25-year old Tonya Nicole Brown probably will be moved to Shelby County early this coming week.

As 27 NewsFirst reported, Brown was arrested in Lexington Friday and charged with murder. Trooper Ronald Turley, public information officer with the state police post in Frankfort, told WKYT-TV police became involved after Brown was treated at the University of Kentucky Hospital, where medical officials raised concerns she might have given birth.

The body of a newborn was found in a dumpster near Shelbyville. Brown was arrested Friday after an autopsy was performed on the baby. She remains in the Fayette County Detention Center under $500,000 bond.

    There is no excuse for killing a baby! She could have taken it to a hospital, fire station, or police station & just left it and nothing would have been done to her, but instead she just threw it in a dumpster. NO EXCUSE!

    This is aweful. If you are not adult enough to make the decision to put it up for adoption instead of killing the baby, then use birth control methods when getting intimate. Because there are plenty of people out there that want to have kids and can't due to medical reasons that would take them in in a heartbeat.
