Glasgow Man Arrested On Murder Charges For Hotel Killing

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a south central Kentucky man and charged him in a killing at a Bowling Green hotel.

Bowling Green Police say 46-year-old Troy Lee Rupe of Glasgow was arrested Sunday night and charged with murder. He is also charged with robbery and tampering with physical evidence.

Police found 38-year-old Thomas Ward, also of Glasgow, dead in his hotel room on Sunday morning after being called to the Ramada Inn in Bowling Green, WKYU reported.

Police say Rupe appears in the hotel's surveillance video to have followed Ward to his room.

A preliminary autopsy report lists the cause of death as strangulation.

Police do not believe the men knew each other.

Thomas was very dear friend of ours, he was a very kind hearted person. It is sad his life was taken from him, his family and friends. We will miss him very much. His memories we will hold close in our hearts forever. Those memories will LIVE in us for eternity. We Love You and Miss You. Rest In Peace.
