Big Ass Fans Holds Big Groundbreaking Ceremony

It's not your average groundbreaking ceremony, or at least that's the theme a Lexington company took on Tuesday morning.

Big Ass Fans is bringing dozens of new jobs to Lexington. The company broke ground for a new facility, which will be located on Jaggie Fox Way.

More than 100 people attended the event, including Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry, who says the company plays an important role in Lexington.

Big Ass Fans, which is currently located on Leestown Road, manufactures large fans that are shipped all over the world.

The new facility is expected to be finished by fall of this year.

who in their right mind would buy anything from a company called "Ass", and who in their right mind give such a name to a company?

The name of the company is Big Ass Fans, it has a picture of a donkey (a.k.a. an ASS) on it's logo. It is not dirty, immoral, or negative in connotation in any manner. To think otherwise is to deny reality and be out of touch with the world. Sorry to tell you, the word ass (meaning a donkey) is used in the Holy Bible, and I don't recall hearing people like you saying to burn your Bibles because it uses such negative and immoral words. The word "ass", like many other words that we in the US consider to be "bad" words were never bad words and were made bad by religious people and others who don't understand word origins. An ass meant a donkey LONG before it was referred to as one's backside. So, get down off the cross Mary and Donald, no one asked you to be our moral compass, and you obviously don't even understand what you preach because it's in your Bible too. And don't worry, I'm sure God is ok, with the murders going on, crying over a donkey is the least of His worries.

Hey Donald from Flemingsburg; why don't you propose to Mary then you two can raise some pretentious, humorless kids and your pathetic way to look at things can remain in this world. Get a grip; the name doesn't harm anyone. If your kids read the bible, they've seen the word ass and if they are in school, they have probably heard worse. If people raise their kids the right way, who cares about a sign or a word. It wouldn't affect them now would it? And don't pick on WKYT for publishing this story. I happen to like WKYT's website; it gives me a chance to read comments from people like you and Mary and realize just how sane the rest of us are.

I was told that another company was making a spin off called Small Ass Fans mainly for residential use.

Mary is not wrong from what she said, morally it doesn't look good as a HEADLINE for WKYT, so give her a break guys.

I love it. Its a beautiful job brand marketing for them. Right off the bat you know what they sell, and the name sticks with you. By far the best named business in Lexington.

Well you know God isn't shy about destroying things that offend Him. If He is bothered by Big Ass Fans, I suspect that it will be leveled to the ground soon. God doesn't cry! You've created a false god in the form of a grandfatherly old man that bawls his eyes out when something upsets him. The God of the Bible destroys cities and kills millions of people when something upsets Him. That's the one that I will stick to believing in!

This company has been here for several years and you're just now getting upset over the name? I think it's a hoot! Their billboard has been on Winchester Road for that long, too. Come on people...there are far greater things to be concerned over. This is just too trivial to spend more time on so over and out!
