Lexington Home Goes Up In Flames

A Lexington family is homeless after flames ripped through their house on Tuesday afternoon.

A family friend spotted heavy smoke billowing from the house on Warrenton Circle at around noon. Fire crews got to the scene quickly, but it was too late to save the structure.

Arson investigators were called in because the fire started in the middle of the day when no one was home. That doesn't mean investigators suspect foul play.

The homeowner, Kareemeh Shalash, says she's sad to lose pictures and other items, but is happy no one was hurt. She lived in the home with her two sons.

Firefighters say the home is a total loss. There's no word yet on what sparked the flames.
