Police Search For Witness In Baby Murder Case

Police are asking for help from the public to track down a possible witness in a murder investigation.

Police arrested 25-year-old Tonya Brown in Lexington last week. They say she gave birth and then left her newborn baby in a trash bin behind a Chevron Gas Station in Shelby County.

There's now word that there may be a witness. Police have released a surveillance picture from inside the White Castle that is located inside the Shelbyville gas station. The woman in the picture may have seen something, but is not considered a suspect in the case.

Police started investigating after Brown sought medical treatment at the UK Medical Center. They later found the baby in the trash bin. The Shelby County Coroner pronounced the baby dead at the scene.

Brown pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to murder at an arraignment in Shelby County. She's being held on a 500 thousand dollar cash bond.

If you recognize the woman in the surveillance picture, you should call Kentucky State Police Post 12 in Frankfort at (502) 227-2221. Callers should ask for Detectives Luke Vahoose or Detective Kevin Calhoon.

I have known this woman for many many years, and never in my life would I Have imagined that she would have done such a horrible thing. When LJ states she had the picture perfect life, she did, and she was/IS a great person. But why she did this is beyond all of us who know her!!! All I can say is that my condolences go out to her family and her husband. This is not the type of person she is and I Have to agree and say that something psychological had to be wrong. You could NOT tell she was pregnant, this coming from myself who has seen her recently. Im not sure how to explain the situation, nor how to "defend" such a horrible crime, so I say this. Please just pray for the family surrounding this lost mother, and thank God for taking care of a precious gift that now he has in his arms for eternity. To the Browns, my heart is with you.

Picture perfect life.. 2 children without their mother, a husband without his wife, his child dead, and people who are not even connected are hurt by these actions. Yep, picture perfect alright.

What the news is not reporting is that this woman is married with another child-a precious 2 year old little girl. They have the picture perfect life, who anyone would want as a neighbor. She is a great mother, wife, and person. Everyone is focusing on the fact that she must be a horrible person. No one is even talking about the chance that there was something else going on, maybe something psychological. How about everyone hear the full story before they condemn her??

I just can't comprehend a reason as to why someone would do this. It is heart breaking. Just imagine what kind of life this baby would have had if the mother raised it ??

I still don't understand - why did she seek medical attention? Did family not know she was pregnant, and if so, how would she explain not having a baby and no longer being pregnant? What is the rest of the story here?

People like this woman?(a disgrace to all women) give us and Kentucky a bad name. This baby had a right to live just like anyone else. She is sooo dumb. Have a baby and then go to the hospital. Why not go to the hospital have the baby and then give it to someone who can't have children. She should be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

In a just world, the lady who killed her newborn would recieve the death penalty. That's the most disgusting murder you could committ. A helpless baby that is truly innocent and you kill it! Give her the death penalty, nothing warrants killing a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just don't understand people. WHY kill these little innocent babies instead of giving it up for adoption or if you don't want to be recognized you can give it to a church or a firestation even a police department. People like this disgust me and they will be punished severely for what they have done. This baby is in a far more beautiful place than it is here and in the Lord's arms this baby will never be hurt again.
