Twenty-One Horses Found Starving At A Southern Kentucky Home

A southern Kentucky man is in jail after officials find over twenty starving horses at his home.

Police arrested 54 year old Jerry Campbell of Rockcastle County and charged him with 21 counts of second degree cruelty to animals.

Officers say they think the horses were probably not property fed for months and that five of them died.

They say it looks like Campbell was trying to care for too many of the animals at once.

The Rockcastle County Animal Shelter is accepting donations to help care for the animals.

That's right sell the 4 wheeler and feed the horses or go to prison---that might be the best place for folks like this.

These horses were brought to this farm to be nursed back to health. Jerry got the horses from a man who could not care for them. Jerry's sole purpose for taking the horses was to care for them because he loves them. The farm that they are on doesn't even belong to him( as reported), it belongs to a friend of his. Jerry had been feeding these horses since he took them to the farm. Where does this 4 wheeler stuff come from? He doesn't even own an ATV. People really need to get the facts straight before they go about judging people that they don't even know. Think about it, because it could be you getting falsley accused next time.

How long has he had the horses?? If he did get them lately from someone else in an attempt to try to nurse them back to health, then good for him..I just wish someone had stepped in sooner. But if he has had the horses for a while and was neglectful, then he should be charged with cruelty. No animal should have to suffer like I'm sure they have.

Should have sold his four wheeler to buy feed for those horses. The economy is worsening every month.

First of all you all have no idea of how long he has owned the horses. For all you all know he could have bought them yesterday. He bought the horses to take to the beautiful farm so they would have room to roam and graze on the land. I know for a fact he did feed the horses on a very regular basis
