Law That Would Have Allowed Restaurant Tax Failed To Pass

A law that would've allowed at least one eastern Kentucky city to enact a restaurant tax failed to pass.

The house bill failed to pass before the state legislature adjourned Tuesday night.

State representative Rick Nelson says the measure would have allowed the Middlesboro City Council to enact a tax on meals to create much needed revenue for the city.

Opponents worried that would create a precedent for other cities.
