Police say a woman hit a car with a mother and her six year old child inside, sending her over an embankment and into a creek.

Photos provided by Mark White of the Corbin News Journal show the car partially submerged. Luckily the Woodbine Fire Department was only a quarter of a mile away and managed to rescue the mother and daughter before the car sunk deeper into the creek.

Both were airlifted to Tennessee with serious injuries.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
