Double Murder Suspect Likely To Be Tried As Adult

A Lincoln County judge could soon decide if a double murder suspect should be tried as an adult.

Police have said the person who gunned down Bo Upton and Ryan Shangraw in 2002 was a juvenile at the time of the crime. Police say the suspect turned himself in.

He was in court Wednesday for a juvenile hearing.

Lincoln County attorney Daryl Day says he fully expects the case to be handled in adult court, but he says he can't comment on the case until it is.

How bittersweet to know such a decision was made by a kid and two wonderful people lost there lives. He should be tried as an adult, he was big enough to make the decision to take another life. And others who were involved.

Why did he turn himself in now? If it's because he thought he was gonna get caught with the new commissioner and detectives on the case, he may have only wished to avoid more severe punishment. These sort of thought patterns along with the murderous ones prove that this individual will not stop committing crimes that are harmful and obviously deadly to others. It's sad that youth grow into such persons with these behaviors but we must realize and admit they do and they do not change but rather learn how to hide or get around the system. I feel individuals like this should be put in prison without parole to protect innocent people. Don't let him back out to do the same thing other criminals have had the opportunity to do.

It is great to hear someone has turned himself in for this crime. Many of us wonder why now. We also wonder what adult was also involved???? A juvenile is capable of killing in cold blood. But, all the other juveniles involved at the time could not have kept their mouths shut. Many don't think the juvenile was the mastermind behind this.
