High School Student Seriously Hurt In Crash

A teenager was seriously hurt in a violent crash in Lincoln County on Thursday morning. Police say the teen was probably on his way to school when the accident happened.

U.S. highway 150 was closed much of the morning after the crash that happened between Stanford and Crab Orchard.

Police say Casey Cox was stopped to turn left onto Cedar Ridge Road when a tractor trailer rear ended his car. That set off a chain reaction crash that involved another truck being hit.

Police say Cox is 16 or 17 years old. They're hopeful he's going to pull through.

"The boy was alert and responsive when we got to him. He said he didn't remember what happened. Said everything went black, didn't remember anything. Of course he's hurt," said Deputy Dannie Gilliam of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.

Cox was airlifted to UK hospital where at last check he was in serious condition.
