Ladies, listen up! You've probably done it. You finish loading your groceries from a shopping cart into your car and then go to return the cart. You leave your car unlocked and your purse inside.

Lately, someone has been seizing the few seconds you are away from your car to open the door and steal your purse.

It's happened twice in the last week at Kroger on Hartland Parkway. In one case, the suspect dropped the purse as he was being yelled at by the owner.

Police say its best to keep your purse on your arm or lock your car while your returning the cart.

Ladies...listen up. While you're out at the grocery store buying goods for your hardworking husband, please make sure to take your purse with you. What about drag queens??? They carry purses too!

Beaumont Kroger has the most purses for the taking. I don't work there but I shop there and see on average four purses ripe for the picking. I really want to say hey ladie, have you ever been ripped off but I smile and go on my merry way.

If you carry a purse you should always keep it on you, even in the grocery store. It is common sense to keep your purse with you NO MATTER WHAT. I have heard some women say that it's to heavy to always carry - I have a solution, take out some of the things you are carrying in it!! Stop making it easy for people to steal from you. We all get in a hurry from time to time but we all have to use our heads, especially in these times where everything is costing so much more. The thought of it "never happening to me" needs to be replaced by "I'm not going to make it easy for them" - lock your car doors, the doors and windows to your homes (when you are not home), it only takes a few minutes but could save you a lot of heart aches and money.

Do what I do... use the seat belt in the cart to hook around the handle on your purse wrap it around a few times then lock it. keep it that way until after you get your groceries in your car and when your ready to put the cart up then unlock your purse and take it with you in the car....if someone tries to grab your purse out of the buggy then they will try to take the whole buggy with them. Only takes a few seconds to do when you put your purse in the buggy but saves in the long run.
