Higher Ed Panel Schedules Special Meeting

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The state's Council on Postsecondary
Education has scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday, when it
may go into closed session to "discuss the appointment of a
person."

The meeting comes amid scrutiny of the panel's recent move to
make interim president Brad Cowgill permanent.

Gov. Steve Beshear has told the council not to sign a contract
with Cowgill and has demanded a new national search. He's meeting
with council chairman John Turner Tuesday afternoon.

Attorney General Jack Conway has said the council violated state
law when it picked Cowgill without doing a national search.

The council is the state's coordinating agency for Kentucky's
public universities and community and technical colleges.

Good move Governor, it is very obvious to all educators that this man is not qualified.
