FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are making sure as many people as possible have something to eat for Christmas.
As part of the Cram the Cruiser food drive, state police posts around Kentucky collected more than 52 tons of non-perishable food.
That's double the amount of last year's food drive.
"This campaign has been extremely successful and has allowed our agency to reach out to families in need during a critical time of the year," said Kentucky State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer. "Amazingly, personnel from the Harlan Post gathered nearly 11 tons of food."
State police say the food will be donated to shelters, food banks, and needy families in Kentucky.
