Copper Theft Leaves Thousands Without Phone, Internet Service

Thousands of people spent Thursday morning without power, after a copper thief cut the wrong line in Leslie County.

Officials with Windstream say it happened Wednesday night at around ten.

People in several counties, including Perry and Clay, were impacted. Power started coming back on at around 11:00 Thursday morning.

Windstream officials say copper thefts have cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past few years.

Oh now, this is a good one! Now is the time to stop the people who are buying the copper, and make them accountable. Surely it can be done? Where is the copper police when you need them??
