Still No Word On Trial Venue For Couple Charged With Murder

A Clark County couple accused of killing a 10-year-old girl went before a judge on Thursday afternoon.

Lawyers for Patrick and Joy Watkins were asking a judge to move their case out of Clark County. Their attorneys say all the pre-trial publicity would make it impossible to have a fair trial in Winchester.

They're accused of killing, beating, and burning Patrick Watkin's daughter, Michaela, last year. The couple told 27 NEWSFIRST her death came because of a series of accidents including falling down the stairs and burning herself with bath water.

The judge agreed that it would be difficult to seat a jury in Clark County would wouldn't have been impacted in some way by Michaela's death.

He says he had already contacted Madison County about possibly holding the trial there, but they already have a jury trial coming up on Monday. He says he'll now wait two weeks before he makes a decision.

The next change of venue hearing is scheduled for two weeks from Thursday.

Everyone deserves a fair trial. Innocent until proven guilty. That's the rule of law in this country. You can't believe everything that these corrupt cops say. Lay all the evidence out for an impartial jury to hear and then let them decide.

You can tell by these people's demeanor on the news that they don't have a sorry bone in their bodies. They both need to hang for this.

Why do these monsters even deserve a trial. Who cares if they have a fair trail. Did Michaela have a fair chance. They tortured & scalded my precious granddaughter and they deserve the same hell that they did to her. She didn't deserve this so why do they think they deserve a fair trial. Their monsters and they don't need to be treated with any respect. I pray everyday for God to take care of my special baby. If I only knew what was going on I could have taken her away from all the hell she suffered everyday. I miss you so much my special baby. I will always love you. Papaw Adams

Why should THESE people be given a chance of a fair trial. . .was Michaela given a fair chance regarding her death? Fair would have been to remove this child from that environment long before the end result. I only hope that Michaela is living in peace in heaven as she evidently went through hell here on earth.

Do they really deserve a fair trail?

Well, just tell me what was FAIR about what they did to their child? They should have already been fried, but we all know how this state is so screwed up when it comes to justice. They both will get out in a couple of years on "good behavior".

Why should they be given any special considerations? That poor child was allowed to be treated like crap and then murdered by people who were suppose to love and protect her. I say, you kill in Kentucky, we should kill you back!

This baby suffered so much! It's time to make an example of these baby murderers!
