Tin Foil Thief Strikes Again At Lexington Gas Station

Overnight on Thursday, Lexington police responded to another possible, bizarre gas theft. It's just the latest in a series of similar crimes as gas prices hit another record high.

Police say someone climbed on top of the roof at the Shell Station on South Limestone and wrapped the satellite used for credit card transmission in tin foil.

That causes the equipment to go down. Police say the thieves then pump gas for free, with a bad credit card.

Since last month, police say at least six similar crimes have happened in Lexington.

Police released surveillance pictures of suspects in the crimes that happened at the Shell Station on Stanton Way.

I have personally seen this happen at my station too. Calling the cops does no good as the thieves have pumped their gas and left by the time the police arrive.

@Kim Location: Berea Lmao you read my mind. They dont tell the public the way to make meth just what to look out for. They dont tell the public what bombs where made of just that they were found. Why be so foolish as to divulge info that could have every idiot that thinks stealing is profitable getting free gas for months after robbing your house.

Sometimes, divulging important information only helps others commit these crimes over and over. Did those involved in the investigation and reporting of this case ever think that the information their giving to the public is hurting everyone? I'll bet there are some out there now taking notes on how to get their gas for free! There are times, I think, where news reporting can cause more harm than good.

This is still funny. On a more serious note if gas prices don't come down. It is going to get much worst.
