Police: 14-Year-Old Killed While Driving Car

Grief counselors were on hand Monday at a Boyle County middle school after a student died over the weekend.

A 14-year old Desiree Hinderer, of Danville, was killed Sunday afternoon when police say she crashed the car she was driving into a tree. She was pronounced dead on the scene on KY 52 in Danville.

Her 17-year old passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the local hospital. His name has not yet been released.

Hinderer attended Bate Middle School in Danville.

Danville police say a criminal investigation has been launched into the crash.

They're still trying to figure out why Desiree was driving in the first place.

Funeral arrangements for Desiree Hinderer have been set.

Her visitation is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 5, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville.

Her funeral is Wednesday afternoon at 3, also at the funeral home.

When I first went to CDR in fifth grade I didn't really know many people. But one person I got to know was Desiree. She was the most wonderful person I know. I remember when her grandfather would take us to Finleys to go skate, I'll never forget those memories we had. It broke my heart when she told me she was moving, I moved as well. But as I move back to Lancaster I find out that one of my best friends had passed away two years ago. I broke down crying knowing that something this horrible had happened, I loved that girl to death and always will. Desiree you were such a smart, wonderful, funny, beautiful girl and it hurts me to know that your not her anymore. I will be going to visit your grave every now and then since I didn't know about any of this till today. You were my best friend and we had a lot of great times that I will never forget about. I love you so much and you will forever be in my heart. I love you and miss you so much. <3

i remember des. i was supposed to spend the night with her 2 days before she passed. she was wonderful and i often think about her. it was very hard for her friends and family and still is. luckily, we all pulled through it and are stronger today. yes, she made a mistake. yes, she was only 14. but she was our friend and nobody can answer why she was driving honestly, but herself. until then, those who question...she is gone, we are hurt, and please respect our feelings. thank you and rest in peace honey. love...

See how cars kill? We should have built only 100-story Tower cities connected to mag-lev Trains. Commuting to work is slavery; the wage is slavery; each house is a slave plantation, a mini one. T&T will save lives & the Earth.

To all of you concerned I have it from very good authority Desiree was NOT DRIVING when the accident happened. The "boyfriend" said from the beginning he was the driver NOT DESIREE. The accident also states she was NOT the driver and for those of you who have tried to spread the rumor that she was pregnant, again, you have the wrong facts, she was NOT PREGNANT. So please just let the ones that know her and love her remember her and let her rest in peace. Her grandfather is putting together an Educational Farm AND Youth Center in her memory in Boyle County and it is going to be AWESOME, my girls and I spent 5 hours today listening to this man, tell how much she is loved and missed and we agree, and about his dream for the farm and youth center. He is going to give these kids that need help somewhere to go, so why not try to channel your energy to something positive and help us out in Boyle County, REMEMBERING and HONORING her, instead of putting her down. Love ya Desiree, MICHELLE
