UK Equestrian Team Wins In Connie Blount's Memory

Connie Blount was killed this April while crossing Maxwell Street and Broadway by and hit and run driver.

She was also a valuable member of the UK Equestrian team... a team that only once competed for a National Title.

Last year the team came in a respectable 9th place out of 17 competitors, so when they attended this years event in California the team's expectations were limited.

But say they drew inspiration from Blount and overcame a 5th place standing in the last event... coming in first place and bringing home a Championship.

They are now hoping the University will sponsor the Team so they no longer have to find sponsors on their own.

They will also have home court advantage when the National Championships come to the Kentucky Horse Park in 2010.

Thank you so much for recognizing the team and their hard work. As their former coach, I know many don't realize the magnitude of what they and their current coach, Michelle Zimmer, have accomplished in winning Nationals, but thanks to you, at least they know!!
