Man Donating Blood In Every State

An Ohio man is going to extraordinary lengths, hoping to spread the message of the importance of donating blood for cancer patients.

Alan Whitney, founder of Platelets Across America, visited the UK Markey Cancer center on Wednesday.

He said he came up with the idea for a nationwide campaign while visiting his local blood center last year.

"Last October, as I was donating, I said to myself- I can do more than just donate platelets. I came up with idea of donating platelets in every state," said Alan Whitney.

So far, Whitney says he's made donations in ten states, including Kentucky.

On Wednesday, he also donated a quilt to the Markey Cancer Center made entirely of t-shirts he received while donating blood.

Have fun paying for plane tickets to hawaii and alaska. Wish I had that much money to blow. I can give blood 30minutes from home and save gas.
