Senate President Sues Governor Over Road Projects

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Senate President David Williams has filed a lawsuit against Gov. Steve Beshear claiming his veto of $3.8 billion worth of road projects was improper.

Williams claims in the lawsuit filed Friday that the veto was issued too late to be effective. Williams also is asking a judge to rule on whether Beshear has authority to spend state road money not specifically appropriated by lawmakers.

Beshear vetoed a two-year transportation spending bill last month. He said the legislation would have hampered his administration's ability to adequately manage road projects in the state.

Beshear said his administration would follow an alternate transportation spending plan that would be compiled within the coming months.

Beshear spokeswoman Vicki Glass didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Beashear's problem is his feelings are hurt because no one will accept 'GAMBLING', so in order to get what he wants, he is taking away other things by saying there isn't any money, he is just putting the pressure on to get the Casinos. Every politician does it. Whiners!!!!!!!!!

None of this is Beshear's fault. He inherited a badly run state from Fletcher. And Williams is an ignorant jerk - pay no mind to him.

How can anyone blame Beshear? He inherited this problem from the former governor! I agree with Kim, let's ask Ernie where all the surplus road money went! But Williams won't do that, because he already knows where it went! He's just trying to stay in the media spot light! Williams is not a team player, he wouldn't work with Fletcher either! He's an ignorant bully! I worked in state government for 25 yrs, I've seen the stuff that Williams, Richardson, & the rest have pulled over the yrs. They all need to be kicked out on their ears! I hope the judge sees thru this BS! I guess that will depend on what judge handles the case! Judges are just as crooked as the lawmakers! They can be bought for a price! William has his, just check some records. What construction co will get the "bids" for these road projects? You can bet they will be from Williams list of supporters! Williams has no right to sue anyone over this, he's just mad because he might lose some supporters!

Daivd, I knew you were smart. However, this is brilliant. Sounds like Stumbos torture to The Great Fletcher will be seen now by the scathing KY DEM Party. It's your turn to burn Dems!

David Williams has been the biggest assest to KY'S legislature ever. He is honest and that's why the KY "dims" can't stand him, because he keeps his eyes on them. Take Beshear to the coals, he is a disgrace to KY. Zeke, Spike Lee is liked in KY almost as Obama. Williams has intellengence, something Spike lacks. (edited).

Everyone can tell our roads have literally gone to the pots lately. It seems they spree for a patch that creates 2 even bigger bumps over a repave this year. Maybe if that state and fedral gas tax money really went to PAVING THE BLEEPING ROADS!!!!!! We would have well maintained roads to drive on. But no they give new cop cruisers to which ever cops write the most tickets like a contest using fedral grants funded by fedral gas taxes. Nice new gas gussiling Dodge charger custom cruisers from our gas taxes that they say are for paving our roads.

David Williams is the joke here...suing the Governor? Please! If the legislature wouldn't use the transportation budget as a way to give themselves money in their districts, and actually use it to fix all the roads that need fixing, we wouldn't be in this mess. Gov Beshear saw that this transportation bill, yet again, was filled with BS for David Williams, Jody Richards, Harry Moberly, Dan Kelly, and other leadership in the House and Senate, and decided that it was time to stop this crap and spend the money where it needs to be spent. He should be allowed to come up with a spending plan for the road budget and if it looks like he's rewarding people instead of doing what should be done, then sue and give the money back to the Feds...I'd rather them have it back than to waste it on unnecessary projects here.
