Some seniors at Letcher County Central High School find themselves in trouble after a senior prank that some say got out of hand.

Police told WYMT's Peter O'Connor that a student at Letcher County Central High School set off a stink bomb in the hallway and bathroom.

When officials went to investigate the incident they say a food fight broke out in the schools cafeteria and it quickly got out of control.

Police say no arrests were made but six students were charged with multiple offenses from criminal mischief and in sighting-a-riot to assault.

“It was children involved in mischief, children are good children. The mischief that they were involved they took it a little too far and it resulted in some of those students receiving some charges from the court system,” Bert Slone, Letcher County Sheriff’s Dept.

School officials released this statement: “Thanks to closely supervising staff members, students who attempted last day pranks, were swiftly identified and issued the appropriate disciplinary consequences.”

For their role in the prank, police say three high school students will be in court next Friday

Not to make light of it, but are you sure they were charged with "in sighting-a-riot"? And not "inciting a riot"?

in-sighting a riot? Can we get a proof reader for WYMT?

What a way to get remembered. This proves that one wrong decision can affect you for the rest of your life. Some of these kids may be old enough for this to go on their record. I hope other kids can learn from these kids mistakes.

Someone more familiar w/ the English language needs to proof your posts, e.g.: "... multiple offenses from criminal mischief and in sighting-a-riot to assault." The word is 'inciting', meaning 'causing to occur'. They were not charged w/ 'sighting-a-riot' (seeing one happen). I really don't mean to be insolent, but this is (or, apparently, used to be) a definition word in 6th grade English.

School officials forgot to tell you that this prank began when some students closed and locked a gate on the only access road to the school, abour 3 dozen mice were bought from local pet stores and were let loose throughout the school, 7 toilets were broken, several mirrors in the restrooms were broken, a female student dropped her pants and took a bowel movement in the hallway, folding tables were used as sleds to slide down the stairs, a lunchroom monitor fell and broke her ankle during the food fight and 31 students were led out of the school in handcuffs after Kentucky State Troopers and 4 Deputy Sheriff's and the Whitesburg Police & Fire Dept responded to the school. If these kids would of hand guns they could have killed dozens of people. The only two school security people on duty were simply not prepared for this well planned and organized "prank".

THe punishment for these ignorant children should be, scrub the floors/walls without gloves in front of the school faculty and apologize to the janitors.no fines cause the parents will just pay that and kids get off laughing. maybe community service carrying signs saying they will not act stupid again.
