UPS Pledges Donation To Equine-Related Charity

ATLANTA (AP) - Shipping giant UPS has ridden a wave of
enthusiasm amid Big Brown's success as the horse seeks to become
the first Triple Crown winner in 30 years. Now the company has
pledged $10,000 to a charity that aids thoroughbreds.

The Atlanta-based company said in a statement Friday that in
making the donation to Thoroughbred Charities of America, it wants
to honor Eight Belles. The filly was euthanized after an injury at
the Kentucky Derby.

Big Brown needs to win at the Belmont Stakes next month to take
the Triple Crown, after wins at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness
Stakes. The colt was named by one of its owners in honor of UPS.

Brown is the dominant color on UPS delivery trucks and the word
is used extensively in its advertising. UPS is also known as United
Parcel Service.
