Jury Acquits Former Coach of Sex Charge

CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (AP) - A jury in eastern Kentucky has cleared
a former assistant football coach of a sodomy charge.
Vincent Jones wept when the judge read the jury's decision in
court on Tuesday.
Jurors deliberated for about two hours before finding Jones not
guilty of second-degree sodomy.
The defense attorney said Jones turned down a plea deal that would have involved no prison time and a promise to clear his record.
Jones' accuser was in the courtroom, seated with her mother and
her husband and she also broke down in tears.
The woman - now 18 - had said Jones forced her to perform a sex
act in a classroom that housed an in-school suspension program at Boyd County High School.
