A Clark County couple, accused of abusing an infant, entered a guilty plea on Friday in court.

28-year-old Jesse Patrick told a judge today he threw his 3-week-old son in his crib, causing bruising to his head and neck. The baby also had a hand print across his ribcage.

Friday, he admitted to the crime, while the baby's mother, Genne Burgess, also entered a guilty plea for not reporting Patrick's abuse.

Patrick and Burgess lived together for two years and had a baby, Wyatt, together.

Burgess told 27 NEWSFIRST in a jail house interview that Patrick started drinking soon after their son was born and as a result became abusive.

Burgess says she didn't know that Wyatt had been abused because his bruises didn't show up until after social service showed up to remove him from the home.

On Friday, Patrick pleaded guilty to first-degree abuse. His recommended sentence is 10 years. Burgess pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree criminal abuse. Her recommended sentence is five years.

The couple will be formally sentenced next month.

This will never stop if the law don't put the parents to death. An example will have to be set.

Who in there right mind can just throw a 3 week old into a crib, was the baby crying, hungry, need a diaper change????? You know that will happen with new borns they need love and attention. If you dont like those things then you dont need to be having S** and making them with whoever. That all comes with being a parents if you dont want to have children then use something to prevent it that baby did not deserve that and the parents should get more than 10 and 5 years, that baby didnt even get to have a life, so I think his parents should get a harsher punishment, this world is just SICK anymore just SICK!!!!!!

I can't believe that any one could do that to a child. the lord was watching over him.And if in fact the mother knew about it and didn't report it, she should of gotten more time than him and also be fixed where she can never have anymore children

She will be out of jail in 6 months. I adopted a little boy that had been severely abused when he was 2 months old. He had broken bones, bruises all over, had been shaken till the blood vessels in his eyes were bleeding and almost starved to death. His father got 6 years after pleading guilty and mother received 2 years but was out in 6 months. The father served 4 of his and that was only after he got in trouble for stealing while in jail. There is no justice for these precious babies that are being abused. I am so sick of it!!!!!

I think that the public should leave a FEW marks on the parents. . .I'm sorry, I should have said the sperm donor and recipient of such. . .PARENTS would NEVER do such a thing. . .Individuals of this intellectual capacity SHOULD NEVER be allowed to have children. . .as Bob Barker so politely put it. . .PLEASE have your pets spayed and neutered. . .
