FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Council on Higher Education
hired a Florida man as its interim president while the search for a full-time leader takes place.
The full council hired Richard A. Crofts of Palmetto, Fla., on Friday. Crofts is expected to serve for six months or more, but is not a candidate for the full-time position.
A search committee is currently looking for a permanent council
Crofts, a 1962 graduate of Georgetown College in Kentucky, served as the interim higher education commissioner in Mississippi from December 2004 to September 2005.
Crofts has held positions as commissioner and deputy commissioner of higher education of the Montana University System and assistant to the chancellor of the Minnesota State University System.
