Remains Found In Jefferson Woods ID'd as 1997 Missing Man

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Skeletal remains found in April in a wooded area off St. Andrews Church Road near Dixie Highway have been identified as those of a man missing since 1997, reports the Lousville Courier-Journal in its Saturday edition.

The family of Ronnie Dale Johnson reported him missing in September 1997, said Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley. Johnson was 43 when he disappeared.

Wesley said the cause of death had not been determined, but no foul play was suspected, reports the Courier-Journal.

Johnson's daughter, Amy Johnson, said: "You'd think it would give you closure, but it raises more questions."

She said her family contacted the coroner's office after they heard the remains were found with an electrician's key ring and two Ford keys.

"He drove only Fords," she said, and he was an electrician who worked for Reynolds Metals Co. for 17 years, the newspaper reports.

His remains were found on April 20 and were identified by dental records, Wesley said.

Johnson was living in the 4700 block of Cofer Avenue in Pleasure Ridge Park when he was reported missing.

Amy Johnson said friends of her father had been in contact with her family over the years to ask whether they had heard anything from him, reports the newspaper.

In addition to Amy Johnson, Ronnie Dale Johnson is survived by two other daughters, Jessica Johnson and Jennifer Amanda Kenney, and two grandchildren. The family was planning an at-home service, reports the Lousville Courier-Journal.
