LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A judge is being asked to open the juvenile court file of a former Louisville resident charged with killing a fellow soldier in Colorado last year.
Kenneth Eastridge was 12 years old in 1996 when he was convicted of reckless homicide in juvenile court in Jefferson County. He was convicted in the shooting death of another 12 year old.
Now 24, Eastridge is charged in Colorado Springs along with two other members of his former Army unit for allegedly killing another GI.
Juvenile court records are normally sealed, but an attorney for The Courier-Journal of Louisville on Friday asked Jefferson County District Judge Angela McCormick Bisig to open Eastridge's file. The newspaper wants to explore decisions made in the case 12 years ago and whether Eastridge completed his treatment program.
Bisig said she'll rule within a couple of weeks.
