LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Families struggling financially now have a new way to get food for their pets.
A charity called Pet Food Stamps has just launched nationwide.
It works just like food stamps. Approved families will receive discounted pet food each month for a six month period.
More than 45,000 pets have been signed up for the program. Families must be on food stamps already or be considered low income to qualify.
The charity is operating on private donations right now, but organizers hope to get federal grants soon.
