Dog Stops School Break-In

Six Boyle County High School students are in trouble after getting busted, reportedly trying to break into the school.

An officer was patrolling near the school around three Thursday morning. When he stopped to let out his dog to use the restroom, the K-9 took off. He followed the dog, and ended up discovering six students on the roof of the school.

Police think they were trying to break in to carry out an end of the year prank.

The students were all taken into custody. They were later released to their parents.

Police say it's up to the principal to decide if trespassing charges will be filed against the students.

Maybe you older people should go to youtube and look up senior pranks because obviously it dont only happen in Boyle County you all act like these kids killed someone.. I think we should worry about more serious problems in the world.. like people trying to bomb schools, robbery??

I personally think this is not a big deal. They all was trying to have fun. There are bigger problems out there in this world then worrying about these students trying to pull off a senior prank. As in murder, rape and etc. Talking about sending them to iraq?? what does that have to do with this? This is blown out of proportion big time!

With age comes wisdom, but sadly many of the adults blogging on this site are not acting maturely or wisely. As adults we should be more reasonable, and a lot less judgemental. The truth of the matter is many of the comments submitted below are based on false accusations. Just because we are older it does not automatically make us 'better' than these students. We have no right to judge this situation, and furthermore those who do not fully understand what really went on in this situation are ignorantly blogging and condemning these students. Not one of the students involved in this event was planning on even attempting to enter the school; not one of the students involved in this event was planning on stealing the computers or cell phones or money. As adults we should not be so quick to judge others. No human being has the right to be so judgemental of another. We were all high schoolers at one time or another, but now as adults we ahould be the mature role models, not condemning judges

I stand by my decision..The boys should spent jail time plus stand in front of school with signs and since they have nothing to do...make them pick up trash and since they had paint cans they would have done damage. If they are so bored and full of energy sent them to Iraq. and bring our tired soliders home.

Sarah, no offense, but I don't need a lecture on the law, or anything else for that matter, from a high school student. They got off with a slap on the wrist, which is fine with me. Maybe next time someone breaks into your school and steals more computers, paints the football field, etc. you'll think that's OK too. It's just a different degree of the same thing.

These so called vandilism acts have been done every year since i can remeber and some of you judgeing this group of students have probley been involved or known of it happenin before and havent said anything. I know these students and they really are not trouble makers they just wanted to go out with a "boom!" and ended up gettin caught. I could understand if something serious had happend but "teaching these kids a lesson" isnt goin to stop it from happening next year or the years after that. I think as far as letting the school take care of it was the right decission, lighten up people they had no intentions of harming anyone. And as far as tax dollers go when it comes to boyle county high school maybe that once a year detailed cleaning does it some good. Why dont u all use your time to fight for a better school then maybe they students would care more if they werent able to look from the top floor to the bottom floor through several holes.

i am a fellow student of these kids and they are good kids but that does not matter right? after all they did break the law. but they did not think that it was a big deal. that day some of the boys joked around with one of the teachers and the teacher said that would be a good senior prank. the boys did not break an entering it was a harmful senior prank and all you jerks out there saying they got a slap on the wrist and they should make them stand in front of the school with a sign saying what they did. have you forgot what its like to be in high school? tax $ give me a break if the kids did put a 08 on the side of there school they would not paint over it they just leave it there. out by the Greenhouse there is still a 05 and befor the school redid there gym there was a "class of 85" on the gym. 85! give my friends a break

That's nice, d-town anonymous. And just what would have happened if Bak The Wonder Dog had not interupted you guys? Would you have just changed your mind and went home, without doing anything? Or perhaps the school would have been painted. And the county would have had to spend a lot of $$$ to fix the vandalism. Senior prank or not, it is a criminal act. These are the facts, and they are straight.

Annon...what were the pranks? Why was you on the rooftop? Tell the true story or is that the story we get because it gets you off the hok. If it was just an innocent prank, use what brains you have next time and count your lucky stars. If the school had been vandelized your prints would have been there...
