Snow and wind cause problems for drivers in Scott County

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Drivers faced some tough conditions on the roads Tuesday night, as a winter storm moved across the Bluegrass.

Drivers tell us both strong winds and snow made things difficult on Scott County roads.

"The hardest part is the wind and snow.. hits the windshield and I can't see. I can't see barely anything," driver Hector Miranda said.

"It's getting really bad, slushy, icy, everything is pretty nasty out there right now," driver Angie Cales said.

Power was knocked out at least twice Tuesday night in the area of I-75 and Paris Pike. Police had to direct traffic at that intersection for much of the night.

"I'm just taking it real slow. I just came out because I had to, but don't get out unless you have to," Cales said.

Some of the gas stations in that area also weren't able to pump gas, because of the power outage.

As of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kentucky Utilities reported just under 400 of its customers in Scott County were without power. That was down from more than 600 customers earlier in the night.
