Woman Robbed While Helping Stranger

An 86 year old Lexington woman ended up being robbed at knife-point while trying to help a stranger. It happened just after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Athens-Boonesboro Road, not far from Interstate 75.

Police say a man knocked on her door claiming to be out of gas. The woman says she went to get a gas can and the man followed her, then pulled out a knife, held it to her throat, and threatened her.

The victim says the man grabbed her purse and ran. She was not hurt and was able to call 911. Police are still looking for the suspect.

Bless her heart, at 86 yrs old this woman grew up when people didn't even have to lock their doors and people helped people wheather you knew them or not. The world today is cruel, small town or big town its bad everywhere and the way times are changing it is only going to get worse. I blame a lot on the courts people do crime after crime and get no jail time and I don't know if would make others to think or not for people have no morals anymore, its not the price of gas or anything making them do this they are just to lazy to work. But to rob an 86yr old Lady shows that this was the work of a COWARD. I just hope this lady has family and freinds to help, some only have so much to live on from month to month and all she may have had could have been taken. Lexington Police keep on this and catch this coward next time he may hurt someone. K in London I know what you are saying but she would probably help someone tomorrow if she thought they needed it

Come to my house and try to rob me, I bet you'll end up being visited by the coroner when I'm through with you. I feel so bad for this lady and recommend she take a CCDW class that way she can protect herself from the scum of Lexington that are looking to take advantage of anyone that is feeble or not able to defend themselves. Smith and Wesson will protect you from the next slime-bag that comes by and tries to rob you ma'am.

what a sad pathetic man to rob someone that cant defend themselves...they need to start making these people pay for their crimes in a way that will make others think twice..im so glad this woman wasnt hurt, but now if someone really does need help she will probably be hesitant to help...the scum in the world are making it really hard for the good people.

It is sad, but the fact is, we shouldn't be opening or doors for strangers.

I don't know why anybody would want to rob or even try to hurt her. I know her very well and she would do anything she could to help anybody. She is a very loving and sweet lady!

This is why I never answer my door unless I know who it is. And I never help anyone unless I feel safe about it..This is also why people never help stranded motorist's anymore as well.
