Two Ft. Campbell Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) - The Department of Defense says two soldiers from Fort Campbell died of injuries sustained when a helicopter they were in went down in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon says the soldiers who died were 20-year-old Pfc. Andre D. McNair Jr. of Fort Pierce, Fla., and 42-year-old Chief Warrant Officer James Carter of Alabama.

They died Thursday at Kandahar Army Airfield in Afghanistan of injuries sustained when the Kiowa helicopter they were in went down during a test flight. The crash is under investigation.

They were assigned to the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at
Fort Campbell, Ky.
