Children With Life-Limiting Illnesses Get A Day Of Fun

It was a day of food, music, face-painting and more as Hospice of the Bluegrass had Daniel’s Care Family Fun Day.

Hospice caregivers say Saturday’s event was for children with life limiting illnesses that don't always get to run and play with other children their age.

And hoping to serve even more families, Hospice is building an inpatient facility right here in Hazard thanks to a $500,000 grant.

“It will be a family setting; it won't be like a hospital at all. It will be like a mountain retreat. And families will be very welcome. We’re going to have large family areas; we're going to have kitchen areas. Every room, we hope will have a sun porch,” says Candy Combs of Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Combs says Hospice plans to break ground in the fall for the facility in Hazard

Hospice provides a great service to the community, and this day they have for the children is just terrific.
