Police: Man Shoots Twin Brother Then Himself

Police say an eastern Kentucky man shot his twin brother and then himself.

Police say they found the shooting victims on the front porch of a home in McCreary County.

Police say it happened at a home on David Dunagan Road and when they arrived both men had been shot in the head once.

Investigators say Richard Dunagan went to his twin brother's house to check on him, but his twin - David Dunagan - shot him at the front door.

Police say David Dunagan then turned the gun on himself.

David Dunagan was pronounced dead on the scene.

Richard Dunagan was flown to UK Medical Center where he died Sunday morning.

Police say David Dunagan was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, and family members say he wasn't taking his medication.

right now i cant explain the things and thoughts that are going through my head. david was my father and richard was my uncle and god knows we are all grieving for them. people dont know what really happen that day but i can say my dad was a very sick man and needed alot of help. this was not a fight between them it was just that my uncle richard was trying to help my daddy and was daddy was not in his right mind. had he not been in his right mind he would have never done this. we all really appreciate the help and thoughful prayers that everyone has sent out to us. no matter what anyone else says i knew them both very well and they loved each other very much this would have never happened had my dad been well.

To Anonymous - stricter laws on who can have guns is not the answer. It's actually easier to get a gun illegally than legally. And there are just so many people out there that would prefer to do it that way because then the gun isn't registered in their name. Personally - anyone that registers the gun and does it legally should be commended for doing things the right way. And please remember - guns don't kill people. People kill people.

ive known both of these boys as long as i can remember and loved them both. they had an unbelievable bond and there is no way david would have ever hurt richard if he had been well. i pray for their families and friends. i hope they find peace in remembering how much they truly meant to each other and can forgive david.

you know that is why there needs to be a stricter law on who can have guns and who can't... This is so sad!!!
