New Housing For Homeless Veterans

Lexington will be getting nearly 200,000 dollars in federal money to help homeless veterans find permanent housing.

Congressman Ben Chandler and Mayor Jim Newberry made the announcement Monday morning.

The housing program will be run by the VA Medical Center and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Housing Authority.

It will help 35 homeless vets find homes, starting with those who have families. Mayor Jim Newberry hopes to expand the effort in the future.
