Lexington-Area Goody's Stores To Close

The shopping options in the Lexington area about about to be a little more limited.

Goody's Family Clothing, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, has announced it will close dozens of stores across the country, including three in Kentucky.

The Lexington Hamburg location, the Brannon Crossing location in Jessamine County and another store in Paducah are all set to close.

Goody's isn't going out of business. Company officials say the closings are a result of economic pressures.

The company currently has more than 300 stores in 20 states across the South and Midwest.

There's no word yet on when the Kentucky locations will close their doors.

When I first read the news about Dawahares, I wondered if Goody's wasn't too far behind.. I was never too fond of Goody's selection or prices and maybe shopped there a total of 3x in 11 years since moving to Kentucky.. I wish the store owners good luck wherever they decide to keep stores in operation.
