Teen Charged With Killing Deputy Wants Trial Moved

A 17-year-old accused of killing a Bell County sheriff's deputy made a court appearance on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say David Poppiti crashed his car into Deputy Sean Pursifull's cruiser back in January during a chase. The crash killed Pursifull and his K-9 partner, King.

Poppiti is charged with murder as an adult.

His lawyer asked a judge on Wednesday for a change of venue, arguing that because of pre-trial publicity, Poppiti couldn't get a fair trail.

The judge has not yet ruled on that request.

Joe I agree wholeheartedly this boy needs to pay!!. This man had a family he was somebody's husband, son, father, brother, etc. And his life does not need to go in vain. It use to be a cop killer got a harder sentence than someone who killed a regular person. But let's face it the judicial system is screwed up in this country. We let murderers live better than us. And we let rapists and child molesters go free because they are "rehabilated" Which is b.s. But someone who does drugs gets 20 years. I don't support drug/drug use but don't you think killers and rapists/child molesters should get harsher punishment than drug addicts. Give a drug addict 20 years but murderers should get the dealth penalty and child molesters/rapists...well there is a solution to that that will stop all that for good but I can't put it on here. If they won't do that then never let them see the light of day literally. Until this country make a statement to these low life criminals then nothing is going to change.

Why give in to this little punk?!!! That makes me cringe. He took the life of a fine officer and K9 and wants to be treated "special". Hell no is what I would tell the little bag of crap! He should have already been electrocuted or injected. Why will the state even consider this?

This Criminal deserves life in Prison. A car is a weapon, just like a gun, and any crime committed with a car should be treated as such. Right Now a South Carolina Police Officer is facing civil rights violations for hitting a suspect with his car! It should be treated equally on both sides of the law. This punk kid rammed his car into that deputy without regard to life of limb. It is absolutlely murder! I am tired of criminals being able to do harm to Police Officers and get away with it while a Police Officer is crucified for every situation he makes a mistake in. I am tired of Police Officers being held to an un-realistic standard. Many Officers are now affraid to defend their own lives. They face Prison, law suits, and a ruined career. Yet this punk can kill an Officer and try to wiggle out of it with slick lawyers and money. Not to mention a sympathetic jury who don't value the Police. Good Day, Joe.
