Five-Year-Old Drowns In Pool

OWENSBORO, KY -- A 5-year-old boy has drowned while playing in a backyard pool with other children, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader in its Saturday edition.

Owensboro police say Ja'lin Midkiff spent Wednesday afternoon jumping from a diving board into the 8-foot deep water with his cousins and friends at a family friend's pool, reports the Herald-Leader.

In the late afternoon, the boy's mother, Ehrin Midkiff, said she turned her head for a few seconds and lost sight of him.

She said she began searching the pool, but could not immediately find him in the murky water. Police and firefighters who responded to the scene found the child, but were unable to revive him, rep;orts the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Please idiots refrain from this stupidity. These people lost their dear sweet child and you want to know why water was murky? And come up with reasons its their fault. It sounds like he was just tired and an ACCIDENT happenend. My deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayer goes to the family. You are loved.

Murky water in a backyard pool? If it was murky, why in the hell were they in it? Something doesn't sound right.
