One Dead After Fiery Madison County Crash

A busy road in Madison County is now reopened after a deadly, fiery crash involving a car and a semi.

The vehicles collided around 9pm Sunday night on Highway 627 near Interstate 75, exit 95.

Police say Mary Van Winkle of Richmond pulled her car into the path of a semi.

She died on the scene.

Rescue workers tell us the semi had just fueled up before the crash and that may have led to numerous explosions and the resulting fire.

It took crews most of Sunday night to clean up the 200 gallons of fuel spilled during the crash.
