Police arrest two women accused of stealing purse by tricking Good Samaritan

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have arrested two women they say stole a purse at a hospital by tricking a Good Samaritan.

Lexington Police arrested 40-year-old Susan Williams and 50-year-old Sandra Pursifull Monday. Both have been charged with felony theft.

Williams is also charged with fraudulent use of a credit card.

Police say a Good Samaritan found the purse at Baptist Health Lexington Hospital, but one of the women tricked that person into giving it to her.

Police say they identified the suspects through surveillance video. On Monday, they say they tracked down the U-Haul the women were using, with them inside.

Lexington Police say $2,200 worth of jewelry was inside the purse, including the wedding band of the victim's husband, who was at the hospital for surgery.

Police say after the theft, the wedding band was sold to a pawn shop and melted down.
