BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WKYT) - Two 16-year-old fishermen had to be rescued Monday morning after they became trapped in a raging river.
Firefighters in Bowling Green say the engine of the teens' boat failed, causing them to get stuck on some rocks along the Barren River.
The Bowling Green Fire Department sent its water rescue unit.
One firefighter was injured when the strong current swept him off his feet, causing him to hit the rocks.
Eventually, rescuers used a boat, attached to some cables, to reach the teens, and pull them to safety.
The teens were not injured.
Rescuers say the injured firefighter suffered a sprained ankle and should be ok.
