Dozens Find Tires Slashed in Lexington

It was a rude awakening for dozens living on Lexington's south side. When those who live on Victoria Way and Expo Court, just off of Man O'War near Nicholasville Road woke up they found their tires had been slashed.

Some cars had all four tires cut, most with at least two. One owner says it looks like teens were running by cutting the side walls with some sort of knife.

Lexington police say by late evening they had taken at least 30 reports of tires being slashed in the neighborhood. Most happened in the Pickway apartment complex.

Neighbors say they believe it was teens with nothing else to do who went on slashing spree. One neighbor said he would like to see the parents of the teens pay for the damage once they are caught.

I agree with having them hold up signs that say "We are the ones that slashed your tires" and let the public decide their punishment. Make their parents pay for the damages. Take a point off their licenses before they even get them. Justice!

Once they catch these kids that did this and they will, kids like to brag about what stupid things they do and someone will eventually tell on them. They should have to be made to work and earn the money and pay for each and every tire they destroyed. They should also make them stand there and replace each and every tire also on all those cars themselves.

When & IF these kids are caught, Tar & Feather them first. Then make them stand on Main St, displaying a sign, I CUT TIRES. Then make them serve community services.

What happened to knowing where your kids are, and what they are doing. We need parents to keep their kids busy doing other things besides causing trouble, and costing innocent people their hard earned cash. I agree that these kids need to spend sometime doing community service work to pay for what they've done. They need jobs as well, but would want someone like that working for you. We need to get back to basics teaching honor, respect, and responsibility. The real world has consequences and doesn't care what the excuse is for bad behavior. Make these children and their parents responsible.

"One neighbor said he would like to see the parents of the teens pay for the damage once they are caught." Once again misdirection sayin kids are kids. how about wanting the kids forced into community service so that they themselves have to pay for their crimes. They realised along time ago jailing a parent for a 16yrold kid skipping school was futile.
